It is situated at the intersection of Sweeny Hollow Road and 23rd Avenue N.E. in the newly formed town of Centerpoint AL. It is owned by Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church which is located directly behind the cemetery.
This cemetery was established sometime after 1860. The church began about 1860 as Taylor Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church. Rev. William Taylor, who was buried here in 1867, was instrumental in the founding of the church. The church was named Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church about 1954 in his honor.
The cemetery is maintained by the Cemetery Committee which was formed in the 1950s and still functions today. There appear to be missing markers on some of the graves in this cemetery although the majority of the surviving stones are in good shape.
